IIn December of 1943 my destroyer, the U.S.S. Swanson  docked in the Brooklyn Navy Yard after seeing action in North Africa and dodging German U-boats in the North Atlantic. I immediately high tailed it to the very gay Pink Elephant bar on 6th Avenue near 42nd Street. I ended up in a sleazy hotel room with two gorgeous marines and another sailor.  At 19 it was my first orgy.

I’ve been working on WILDFLOWER for over two years, I’m into 1971 and have at least two years before I finish it. I put myself in the year–try to feel exactly what I felt then and tell the truth–especially about myself. WILDFLOWER will be shocking because I’m telling the truth about myself and everybody else.
